With the same impact resistance and tubeless-ready beadlock as the mountain-bike Air Liners, the Air-Liner Gravel brings impact-resistance, puncture protection, and performance-boosting stability to knobby tires on the skinny side. On square impacts, the Air-Liner’s resistance ramps up while it compresses to prevent rim strikes and pinch flats – it’s basically a shock installed in your tire.

In addition to big-hit resistance, the Air-Liner Gravel lets you run a lower PSI, which lets your tires gobble up stutter bumps that would otherwise filter up through the bike. You’ll still feel a connection through the contact patch, there’ll just be less static from gravel chatter – and less accumulated rider fatigue from that chatter filtering up through the seatpost and bar. The Air-Liner Gravel’s profile reinforces the sidewall for stability while cornering, and it locks the tire against the rim bead. It also lets the tread ride on air, maintaining contact-patch conformity for responsive traction while climbing and braking. No folding, no burping, no sluggishness, and no flats.

Technology explained

A high-density polymer structure gives the Air-Liner Gravel all the qualities of a good shock: it mutes chatter and ramps up under big impacts, increasing ride comfort and preventing rim strikes. It also acts as a run-flat for up to an hour if you do puncture, and it has an install life of 2,000 hours. The Air-Liner Gravel is compatible with ammonia-free sealant, multiway tubeless valves, tubeless tires up to 700c, and rim beds up to 25mm. Its waterproof coating prevents the absorption of sealant. Each Air-Liner Gravel insert includes a 40mm Vittoria Green Multiway Tubeless Valve.

I use various Air-liners in all my Cyclocross and Gravel wheelsets. Adds confidence and I've NEVER been disappointed! Excellent product!

Pinch flat first use at first race

This is not a long term review, but I bought the gravel inserts and went to a local cyclocross series race and pinch flattered warming up for my race. I know it could be a one in a million chance, but it was a big bummer to travel 2 hours and not be able to race.

Bad experience

Not worth the hassle IMO. During a race I pinch flatted and had to carry the insert in my jersey for 3+ hrs to finish the race. Also, do not let sealant dry in the tire with the insert. I put a new tire on the wheel and due to work I was unable to ride causing the sealant to dry in the wheel gluing the insert to the rim making the tire unremovable because it holds the tire bead seated and would not come loose no matter what I tried. I finally gave up and cut a tire in half to get it off the rim.

Straight Forward Install

Just installed a pair of Air-Liners on my gravel tire wheelset for my Specialized Turbo SL Creo. Install was straight forward, after watching the how-to video a few times. Now I can worry less about getting a puncture(s) while riding in the gravel terrain. Will do the same for my road tire wheelset.

adds to confidence, nice valves

Easy enough to install following the decent directions. Installed in 700X40 gravel tires. The valves are nice. Ride quality seems unchanged, feeling perhaps a bit more solid and settled which is nice, though it could be just my imagination. I'm more confident about hopping curbs, smashing through rough pavement and trails, that the tires won't flat due to impact (and the rims won't be dented) during weekday commuting and weekend fun stuff.
