Vittoria Terreno-Dry tires rip through grass, sand, and gravel – Bike Rumor review

“We crisscrossed creek beds, climbing steep inclines up one side, then right back down them and into a turn. The Terreno Dry tires hooked up amazingly well, grabbing the ground quickly and controllably …” – Benedict (Bike Rumur tester).

Cyclocross and Gravel combine the worlds of road and mountain bikes, and is sometimes referred to simply as ‘Cross’. Vittoria Cross tires offer you the best of both worlds with its traditional road technology cotton casings and the MTB tread expertise.

Vittoria has presented last year the new range of gravel and cyclocross tires: the Terreno series. The cyclocross tires has been developed with Graphene, an innovative material discovered in 2004 by researchers Andrej Gejm e Konstantin Novoselov from the University of Manchester (they have been awarded with the Nobel Prize for this discovery in 2010).

For cyclocross tires the use of Graphene means grip in wet conditions, overall strength and puncture resistance/impact protection. These characteristics are the critical improvement for the Terrenos.

In broad terms, Graphene will make performance compounds weigh less, and take much longer to wear, especially at the knob base.

Clear improvement of knob strength (wear & tear/ cracking, reduced functioning) has been observed in Vittoria Terreno products’ test results.

The Terreno series owns the highest quality of cotton casing that allows the maximum flexibility and highest durability. ‘Corespun’ casings are completely hand made by Vittoria, the world’s leading manufacturer of tires with Cotton casing.

The Terreno series encompasses 3 versions. In order to provide the rider the best solution, each Terreno has been designed by taking different trail conditions into consideration: Terreno DRY, Terreno MIX and Terreno WET.

Terreno DRY are specific cyclocross tires for hard ground. The tread designed as ‘fish scale’ allows a perfect center tread to roll extremely fast, yet offer traction when loaded in cornering and braking.

Terreno DRY is available in tubular with 3C technology. Vittoria applies 3 different compounds in the same tread. The different properties of each layer improve the performance in different dry ground conditions.

Terreno DRY is also available in TNT Tubeless Ready.

Terreno MIX is a gravel and cyclocross tire. Perfect choice for whom rides in very different types of ground. Available tubular version with Graphene and 3C technologies and TNT version with Graphene.

Terreno WET is a perfect cyclocross tire for the muddiest ground. It offers the best grip thanks to the progressive depth tread design that guarantee a smooth transitions between cornering lean angles. Also, the Terreno WET owns the best Vittoria technologies: Graphene and 3C.

Vittoria Terreno participates in worldwide cyclocross competitions with: BMC Cyclocross Team, GS Carabinieri, Olympia-Vittoria team, Snel Cyclocross Team and Guerciotti-Selle Italia team.

Last January 2018 Vittoria has gathered the first Victories of the year with:

Elisabeth Brandau, German Cyclocross National Championship

Braidot Luca, Italian Cyclocross National Championship
